Author Blog Hop!!

Blog Hop!

Well Hey Every One. We had a lil snafu!
We sorta forgot that one of the Greatest Holiday's was near, so with Easter being Sunday, it threw us off; but have no fear, the Blog Hop is still going strong. I will feature three Interracial Authors for the next three Mondays, this idea comes from IR Author Lolah Lace ( who invited me to hop along, so to speak. So come on and join us :)

We'll start off with mua! Lol, and I'll state a little bit about me, why I love Interracial Romance so much, and what Inspired me to write in three different genres.

So, drum Roll Please.......

I’m from California born and raised; however I have traveled a bit in my life. I started out as a chef, and held onto that career for 15-years, but I knew it was not what I wanted to do for the rest of my life. Not to mention I developed bursitis in my right shoulder.  I have a master’s in English Literature/Art History; with a Minor in Mythology and History. I do in home teaching as well as being a tutor. I have taught every subject in between, except math lol. I even spent a summer teaching the Fire Tec Class, when all I basically know about fire; is stop, drop and roll lol.
I has five amazing children; Matthew 27, Blazhia 26, Soleil 22, Micah 17 and Sora 12. Matthew, Blazhia and Soleil are in college; so I spend most of my time with Micah and Sora when I’m not writing. I’ve always loved vampires, werewolves, witches, and the things that go bump in the night; and it just rocks my boat to be able to write about them. I remember I was obsessed with Laurell K way back when, and read everything she wrote; until one day I was like, “I can so do this,” lol, and the rest is history as they say 20 books later.

What prompted me to began my quest to write Interracial Romance, was because of the lack there of.  Multiracial Young Women in a genre that spreads across color lines, and is a multi-billion dollar industry each year. I remember growing up lost at times, because I wasn't quite sure where I fit in, in the spectrum of race. I was bullied by certain races, because I was too Latina to be African-American, too African-American to be Caucasian, too Caucasian to be Native American, and so on, so it was sometime hard as a teen and a child.
I love Paranormal, Contemporary, and Historical Romance, but I didn't see myself reflected in the works that I read.  Moreover, if I did, it was a side character, a supporting character, or a villain; so I thought I’d write my own. Being multi-racial (Puerto Rican, Cuban, Native American, Irish and African-American) I wanted to see a character like me, and the fact that this is rare spurred me on. Authors like me (Interracial Romance writers, or what is more commonly known as IR authors) tend to get pigeon holed into one specific genres like Minority literature, Latina, African-American, or Ethnic, who hardly ever move out of that; and I think this is completely unfair.
I hoped by writing what I believe the genre should encompass, people would see the book for the story and negate the race of the character; that being, anyone could place themselves in the shoes of the character, not just someone of a minority background.

Why do I write what I do, lol, you know, I am not sure lol. I’ve always been fascinated with Vamps and Weres since I was a kid, so I guess it would only be natural that I would write it. I am not the “normal” person lol, whatever that means; so to write in this genre fits my personality perfectly. Convention has never been one of my strong suits, and I often get in trouble in everyday life because I stay as far away from convention as I can lol. I like the weird and unconventional. I’m a Sci-Fi freak too lol.
The main reason that I write the way that I do, is because I love myths from all over the world. It’s my goal to show that many of us Americans are very ethnocentric, and we tend to turn our noses up at something we deem not necessary or indicative to our own well-being or space in this realm; so we have this tendency to negate its value. I want to show people that culture is relevant to everything in life, and people should be proud of where they came from.
I also love the aspect of the Interracial Romance, my mantra, “True love sees no color lines, is pure in its truest form; and is only tainted when narrow-minded haters infiltrate it and make it something it is not.” Love is Love, as the marvelously talented Boy George once said; and I believe he is completely and totally on point. I feel like whether you're a Caucasian guy who has a thang for Sustahs, a Japanese guy who has love for Latinas, a Mexican guy who just can't get enough of Arab women, or an African- American guy who just loves him some Caucasian women. Who Cares, as long as “you do you” and you feel comfortable in your own skin. My ideal of love, includes er' body!

A Gorgeous Hot Yummy is just that.

I Love it When Minorities Shine...

Author Alexandria Infante.
This is the Teaching between Midnight and Dawn & A Lite Farie Tale Series

every one knows how much I love Paranormal Romance! It was because I was obsessed with Laurell K. Hamilton's Anita Blake and Meredith Gentry series that I wanted to write paranormal romance myself. I especially loved the fact that I could write Interracial Paranormal Romance. I love what i do, and it just floats my boat to be able to write romance; especially since my romantic life is often in shambles lol!
Anyway, I love it when I see new news tidbits, and just a new take on the Paranormal circuit.
I'm sure most of you are familiar with the movies Series Under World right? I loooove this franchise, and even though it fell off a bit, to me it is still the best Paranormal Series out there, because Vamps should never fricken "Glitter".

Anyway with the franchise they have put out four actual movies, and I have dug each of them...

So, my point in posting this lovely lil tidbit, was to ask you if you knew the author of not only the books, but the movies as African-American! Not only is he a script writer and director, but he stared in the first two movies. I would like to introduce to those of you who do not know this...

                                         Kevin Grevioux!

Who, as you can African-American.
He is most known for his role as Raze in the Underworld movies. He graduated from Howard University in Washington, D.C. with a degree in Microbiology with minors in both chemistry and psychology, afterwards attending graduate school working towards a Masters degree in Genetic Engineering. Grevioux also began taking screenwriting and cinematography classes as well, and after his first semester of grad school had finished, he moved to Los Angeles to began to work as a writer in earnest. To this end, he has written several scripts in various genres and has written and directed two short sci-fi films: Indigo and Thanatos. He also started a graphic novel company called DarkStorm Studios in 2003. As an actor, he has been seen in such films as The Mask, Steel, Congo, Tim Burton's Planet of the Apes remake, and the 2003 vampire vs. werewolf film, Underworld.

Underworld was Grevioux's first produced writing credit. He came up with the original concept/premise and wrote the original screenplay along with director Len Wiseman, launching the Underworld franchise. He appears in the film himself as a lycan, Raze, and returned as the character in the Underworld prequel Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, which he will also be adapting into a comic book mini-series. He also expressed an interest in telling more Underworld stories in comic form if this proves successful.

Using Romeo and Juliet as an archetype, Grevioux based Underworld on his experiences with interracial dating and the tension that it often causes. He also brought a scientific element to the world of vampires and werewolves by basing vampirism and lycanthropy on a viral mutagen rather than the mysticism typically associated with these two mythic creatures. This idea has been used before Underworld, for example in I Am Legend by Richard Matheson, written in 1954, as well as in the Blade franchise.

Early 2006 saw Grevioux form two comic book imprints, Astounding Studios and DarkStorm Studios. Grevioux's Astounding Studios imprint was to focus on all-ages titles such as Valkyries, Guardian Heroes and The Hammer Kid. The Darkstorm Studios imprint was a more mature line, including the books Alivs Rex, Skull and Guns and Uzan, The Mighty.
Grevioux's voice is distinctively deep. In the commentary track of Underworld, he relates that during the promotion and launch of the film, many fans asked him if his voice had been altered by computer, and were surprised to learn that it had not been.
Grevioux wrote Marvel Comics’ New Warriors volume 4. Grevioux also wrote Adam: Legend of the Blue Marvel, a character he created years ago as a young teenage comic book fan. The miniseries was drawn by Mat Broome and Roberto Castro. He is also in the process of writing a story featuring Lee Falk's characters The Phantom and Mandrake the Magician, co-written with Mike Bullock. He will also be writing ZMD: Zombies of Mass Destruction for Red 5 Comics.

On December 2, 2009, Grevioux hosted a pilot episode for a concept series, Monster Tracker, on Discovery Channel.

He sold the original screenplay for the film adaptation of his Darkstorm Studios graphic novel, I, Frankenstein, to Lakeshore Entertainment, which also produced the Underworld films. The story follows the original monster of Victor Frankenstein who is the only force that stands between the human race and an uprising of supernatural creatures determined to overthrow the world. Filming began on February 27, 2012.

So, will there be a 5th Underworld...

Unfortunately, Underworld: Awakening was pretty much seen by many as a critical flop in 2012, but it made around $160 million worldwide; so it’s not too much of a shock to hear that Underworld 5 is in development.

According to Bloody-Disgusting reports, Screen Gems is actively developing a new Underworld film, tentatively titled Underworld: Next Generation. They suggest that the latest sequel will follow Eve, the daughter of Kate Beckinsale’s leather-clad vampire Selene and Scott Speedman’s confused vampire/lycan hybrid Michael, who became the central plot point of the last film.

Those discussing returning cast should note that Speedman did not return for Awakening, and was replaced by an unconvincing stand-in.

The site states that the hunt for a writer and director is now on, but that Len Wiseman is returning as producer.

So we see, that Mr. Grevioux is pretty much done with the series, and on to something else. I love it when Minorities take over Genres that have for decades run by Caucasian only. More power to you Kevin, I can't wait to see what you come up with next :)

Hey, so it's taken me a while to catch up on most of the shows that I watch, because with teaching and writing; I don't have much spare time nowadays. Anyway, I finally got to watch the first two episodes of Game of Thrones that I missed, and low and behold;

The Inbred is Dead!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Omg! I swear to you I was doing a jig, then made up my own lil diddy of, "Ding Dong the Inbred's Dead, the Inbread's Dead! I have never been so happy in television life than at that moment. I had trepidation about continuing to watch the show after the "Red Wedding." I was livid, and seriously wanted to hang up my "Throne" so to speak; but you redeemed yourself Mr. Martin when you killed off that little bastard inbred!

Where You Been @

Author Alexandria Infante.
This is the Teaching between Midnight and Dawn Series

I'm back after a few months. I've had a bit of drama in my life ( I.e. cheating, lying, untrustworthy incredibly hot ex boyfriend) so I've been away. I swear the greatest gifts you can ever give your significant other is loyalty, trust and faithfulness; these are like the finest, rarest spun silks.
I'm a bit melancholy because of that dirty &^%$#$%*&^$#, haha, so if I digress; someone just point it out to me. I seriously need to get rid of my passion for half white/ half Hawaiian men! Lol.
If anything, I can say it fueled my interest in a new Contemporary book hahaha!
Thus is the life of a writer.

Besides my life's drama, I also just found it hard to write of late. My teaching job has been so hectic lately with that gov shut down, new rules and regulations, and massive amounts of fed funding being cut; I haven't known if I was coming or going lol. But I'm back to writing.
Historical Romance News...

A Queen Among Thieves
My newest in the Historical genre will be A Queen Among Thieves, set in 1600's Scotland. Symphony has been the hand servant to King John 1st for as many years as she can remember, and  he has always treated her with the utmost love and respect. Unfortunately the King abruptly falls ill after a skirmish with the Queen of England, and Symphony realizes just why he’s loved her as if she were his own daughter all these many years; because in actuality, she is.
Princess Anne of Scotland is destined to take the throne, and whether illegitimate or not, Symphony is the eldest living heir to the throne. The Duke of Lochlier will not allow this to happen, and he will stop at nothing to make sure Princess Anne, King John’s legitimate child inherits the throne; even if it means getting rid of the Moorish pain in his arse Symphony. Before his death King John entrusted his knights-men Bànach to protect his heir at all cost. For Bànach it was love at first sight, and what better way to protect her than an introduction to Black Shamus and his menacing Pirate crew.

Yea, I've got a mean thing for those Scotts. What I wouldn't do for a hot Scotsman with an amazing body! Hahaha! The accent alone could make me...well never mind, I'm sure you get it lol.

Shards of Grey
The next is Shards of Grey set in 18th century England, and because I'm using the tale end of the 1790s as well I was able to add a bit of piracy here too. Wooho just fun.
It's Julia's 18th birthday, and all she wants is a holiday in England. However, she must be chaperoned, and the very idea of Mrs. Tilling's dreadful daughters Leuticia and Millicent chaperoning her is cause for the vapors. This leads Julia to entreating her father to allow her to take Absel, her childhood friend along. It didn't matter if she was mulatto, she was Julia's best friend!
William Aldridge knew after ten years in New Gate, his life needed a change. When he boarded the Marry Ellen he had no idea that it would be ravaged by pirates, nor that he would met the most beautiful woman he had ever seen; and the fact that she was a slave did not matter one bit...

Set in India during the 18th century during the time of British invasion. Through the tension of  war on land in eastern and south-eastern India, Caprice must find a way to not only survive in the political upheaval of power, deceit and mayhem, but most notably, she must first learn to be truly free.
Set to Calcutta India to coral the rebels  Cirian Dautry is anything but pleased. It was his utmost wish to be on holiday, however with this last rash occurrence of burning and slaughter, Captain Fisher had seen fit to ship him off to India. He just assumed all was lost, and his stay would be indeed dreadful; that is until he gazed upon Caprice. Whether slave or free, he knew in an instant; she would belong to him.

One Foot in the Grave…

Millen just wants to do here thang, with no distractions. For the last year she has basically become a hermit, her mind on school, work and nothing else. That is until her girlfriends practically drag her by the hair from her two story walk up, for a night on the town in Manhattan; the city where anything goes. Unfortunately for  Millen, she caught the attention of the wrong person…
Stanley Scott knows his name is less than special, which is what fuels his disdain for people in general. It was the very reason he because a police officer, then rose through the ranks so fast, because the less he had to deal with people in the department the better. When he got the call for downtown Manhattan of a murdered CEO for Triathon Conglomerate, he figured it was just another routine call. That is until he walked straight into Millen Furburrow. Nothing after the moment he looked into her beautiful chocolate brown eyes would ever be the same.

Working on plenty more, but since they're near the end of the year, I'll hold off. But keep your eyes out for these this summer :)

This is the Teaching between Midnight and Dawn Series

I was never really a facebook fan when it first began. I would lolagag on there sometimes; mostly to chat with my babies that are in college. Believe me, Facebook can save a lot of money on phone bills lol. However, that was pretty much it; with the occasional post, or a hello to a distant friend. At the end of last year I started participation more, especially since the author thing seems to keep rising; so I started joining some of the groups. Low and behold....

"Drum Roll Please"

I found a group that specialized in reading, adorning, and simply loving Interracial Romance. For me that was like a kid in a candy store, and I have loved every minute of it. I get to read free IR romances, chat with fans, and just meet some all around cool people.

So glad I took the time to join in :)
